SCUBA

I have done many dives here both in November 2017 and 2018 guided by my SSI dive instructor Adrián Bulew of AbySub.

The warmer clearer waters of southern Spain near Herradura are much easier to dive in than the frigid waters of the Baltic!

Marina del Este is a beautiful protected marine park in Spain about 45 minutes east of Malaga and half an hour due south of Granada called "La Herradura" (the horseshoe).

Luckily the waters in southern Spain, even as late as early November, are warm enough that I didn't need gloves. But my instructor is from Spain and he thought the November water was really cold at 19° C but his idea of cold is a bit different than mine!

Of the 10 dives in and around this area, each time I find something new and interesting.

One time an octopus attached itself to one of my dive partners and we had to struggle to get it off! Another time we got inked by a squid!

My first dive team in August 2017 south of Nynäshamn.

I did my original training in August 2017 at the SSI dive school "Stockholms Dykcenter". We dove from a Zodiac boat 5 times over the course of two days and got to see an old shipwreck.

The wreck of the Margaretha af Vätö sank in 1898.

Even though it was August, the Baltic Sea is already very cold. The water measured 8° C.

The first mistake I made was not wearing gloves even though I had them, it didn't seem so cold on the Zodiac. But once I got down to 10 meters is was freezing.

We explored a wreck two-mast brigandine "Margareta af Vätö" that sank in 1898! The wreck is located at a max depth of ten meters off of Brännskär's northern shore in Konabbsfjärden and just east of Torö in Stockholm's southern archipelago.
